In a few short days, 2016 will be here, so now is the perfect time to reflect on what we would like from the future. Most of us make resolutions like ‘be healthier’ and ‘exercise every day’, but what about making some more personal ones? If, like me, you’re a major fashion lover, then as well as focusing on the usual New Year goals, why not add some fashion-related ones in?
To get you started, I thought that I would share a list of four things that every fashion lover should do in 2016. Take note of these ideas (and add in your own) and you’ll have the most incredible year.
- Attend fashion week
If you’re as crazy about fashion as I am, every year you most probably obsess over London Fashion Week. This year instead of watching from your sofa, aim to attend at least one, fashion week event. Be it in London, Paris, New York or Milan, it doesn’t matter, just as long as you attend one. (Fashion weeks can be expensive, so you might want to start saving up now.)
- Invest in a designer handbag
If you’re yet to own a designer handbag, 2016 should be the year that you treat yourself to one. Whether you’re a Chanel girl or have always dreamed of owning your own Louis Vuitton, make your dreams come true by investing. Admittedly, designer handbags can cost hundreds of pounds brand new, but you don’t necessarily have to buy it new. (As long as it’s in good condition, a second-hand designer handbag can be just as beautiful as a new one.)
- Design your own clothes
For us fashion loving gals, designing our own clothes is often, one of our biggest dreams. While we may not be able to afford to start our own clothes brand just yet – watch this space, we can still create beautiful pieces. Thanks to some fantastic printing companies, we now have the opportunity to create any fashion pieces that we desire. From taking the time to design your own poloshirt to your own scarf, there are plenty of options. No matter what you’re creating, for us fashion girls, being part of the design process is a dream come true.
- Perfect your capsule wardrobe
As anyone fashion expert will tell you, the key to staying stylish at all times is having a capsule wardrobe to fall back on. While it’s nice to treat yourself to new pieces now and then, it’s also a good idea to have a wardrobe of staples that are suitable for any occasion. A capsule wardrobe should be made up of neutrals and a range of accessories that are ideal for adding colour and style. The best thing about capsule wardrobes – they don’t have to be expensive. So even if you’re on a budget, you can still stay stylish.
