Having perfectly moisturised skin is one way to make it look perfect. We all have different skin types, and some people find it more difficult to stay moisturised than others. Here are some tips to keep your skin perfectly moisturised:
Always Moisturise After a Bath or Shower
After taking a bath or shower, the skin can become tight and dry if you don’t moisturise it properly. After patting yourself dry, apply your favourite moisturiser liberally all over your body. You should moisturise every day ideally!
Avoid Using Very Hot Water on Skin
Using very hot water on the skin can dehydrate it further. Make sure you only ever take warm baths/showers. Having a hot bath or shower is OK occasionally, but having one all the time can dry out your skin – especially in winter! It’s tempting to take hot showers and baths during winter, but if you want nice skin then you should avoid them.
Don’t Bathe for too Long
Bathing for too long can dry out your skin too. It can be nice to relax in a bath until our skin becomes wrinkled as a prune, but it isn’t very good for it. Keep them short to keep your skin in the best condition.
Concentrate on Dry Areas
When moisturising, concentrate on your dry areas especially. Always apply extra product to your knees, elbows, hands, feet, ankles, and any problem areas you have. This can also help you to fight off aging of the skin on your body if you’re consistent!
Use a Cream for Your Skin Type
Know your skin type? Make sure you use a cream suited to it. You’ll want to use different creams on the face than what you’d use on the body, as the face is more sensitive. If you have extremely dry skin on the body, E45 cream or a similar formulation can be brilliant.
Consider Using an Oil
Oils can be the best solution for dry skin as they work amazingly well to lock in moisture. An oil from somewhere like the AEA will work wonders. Just make sure you get your oil from a legitimate company so that you know it’s what it says it is!
Watch What You Eat and Drink
Watching what you eat and drink will keep your skin healthy and looking great from the inside out. Drink lots of water and green tea, but avoid liquids that dehydrate the body. Eat plenty of healthy fats to make your skin look and feel amazing. Avocado is one of the best things you can possibly eat for your skin and health! Get into a routine where you’re eating natural foods 80% of the time and your skin will thank you. It goes without saying you shouldn’t smoke or drink alcohol to excess either!
You only get one skin, and once damage is done, it’s done. Start looking after it sooner rather than later, or you might end up regretting it. Leave any tips you love for moisturised skin below. See you back here for more tips soon!
