Christmas is coming, so it’s the perfect time to try a few different makeup tips. Step outside of your comfort zone by trying something different to what you’re used to and you’ll probably really enjoy it. You can afford to look a little ‘out there’ during the holidays! Looking the same is no fun. Try these tips!
Use Loose Glitter Everywhere
Loose glitter is big news this year. All you need is a fixing gel and some nail polish to get it to stick wherever you want. For your nails, simply paint them and then dab glitter on them or dip your finger in the pot. For your eyes, apply your eyeshadow then fixing gel before dabbing on as much glitter as you want. For your lips, you could use a little fixing gel over some lipstick to get them nice and sparkly. Glitter lips is a big trend this year!
Try a Metallic Eyeliner
Metallic eyeliner is a great way to freshen up your eye makeup and make your eyes stand out even more. Don’t be afraid to try flicks and other cool eyeliner looks to make a big statement. It doesn’t matter if you use cheap cosmetics; you’ll be able to achieve the same effect.
Don’t Be Afraid to Try Coloured Mascara
Coloured mascara can seriously make your eyes pop if you choose the right colour. Learn what colours best suit the shade of your eyes and then apply mascara in that colour. You might be surprised at how striking your eyes look even though the makeup isn’t black!
Embrace Shades of White and Blue
Shades of white and blue are perfect for winter. Wear them on your eyes, or even on your lips if you dare! You’ll get a real ‘Frozen’ effect. Who wouldn’t want to look like Princess Elsa?
Wear a Bold Red Lip
Christmas is perfect for trying out all kinds of shades of red. Wear a bold red lip whenever you can; Christmas eve, Christmas day, boxing day…you get the picture. You’ll look so glamorous! If you’ve never worn a red lipstick before, here are some tips:
Line your lips with a red lip liner first to get a perfect application.
Fill your lips in with your red lipstick. Blot your lips with tissue, then reapply.
You could try using a lipstick sealant to make it last even longer.
For a shiny look, apply a clear gloss over the top.
Dab red glitter on your lips to make a statement.
Choose a shade of red that suits everybody if you’re not sure. Something like MAC’s Ruby Woo suits everybody.
Make Your Skin Glow
Christmas is the time of year where everything glows. Your skin should be no different! Get the perfect makeup base by applying with a brush, and then use a light bronzer to dust over your forehead, cheeks, chin, and nose. You’ll look radiant!
