It seems like every day our beauty regime becomes longer and more complicated as we add yet another anti-ageing technique, tool or product to it. However, I am here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be this way! Maintaining a fresh face can be done easily and in a short amount of time, like during your lunch break. Don’t believe me? Read on, and I will show you how it is done.
1. Eat an anti-ageing lunch
There are many ingredients that have glorious benefits for the skin. These include olive oil, avocados, tomatoes, dark chocolate, walnuts and many more. The antioxidants, vitamins and minerals in these foods help to keep skin looking healthy and younger! Find out more about these skin-friendly ingredients and start creating nutritious lunches that will benefit your body, inside and out.
2. Hydrate with H20
Drinking plenty of water is an important step in maintaining glowing, young looking skin. Hydrated skin looks plumper, softer and less wrinkled. If you are always rushing around and don’t have time to quench your thirst, take a moment at lunch time to gulp a large glass of lovely H20. Don’t be tempted to drink sugary drinks instead. If you are bored of water, try mixing things up with some fresh mint or basil leaves, orange peel, a slice of lemon or cucumber.
3. Go on, pamper yourself!
Don’t feel guilty about pampering yourself on your lunch break. You work hard, and it’s called a “break” for a reason. Many salons and medical spas cater for the working woman with special lunch hour treatments. You could treat yourself to an anti-ageing facial or a peel. These treatments help to keep your skin looking younger, and they also provide a relaxing interlude to your working day and boost your energy for the afternoon.
When we are stressed, the muscles in our body tighten. Our face muscles are especially vulnerable to stress, and over time this can result in permanent worry lines. Take 5 or 10 minutes at lunch, whether at the park or at your desk, to close your eyes and concentrate on nothing else but your muscles. Starting from your forehead all the way to your neck, feel each part of your face relax. This is a really good habit to get into as it makes you more aware of when you are tightening your face at other parts of the day.
5. Quit smoking!
Lunch breaks are the time when most smokers go outside and get their fix of nicotine. If you are a smoker, I know you are well aware of the awful things this nasty habit does to your insides and your skin. Use your lunch break to visit your doctor or a pharmacy and ask for advice on quitting. Turn the time that you would normally spend being mean to your body by smoking into doing something healthy and positive towards maintaining a fresh face.
So, what are you waiting for? Use your lunch breaks to fight the signs of ageing skin!
